This is the hardest step really.  Giving yourself the time and freedom to learn.  Summer is the perfect time to embrace something new.  Hopefully, some of the pressures of the school year are off of you and your mind is open and free from the clutter of every day and is able to take in something new.

  • What short term goal have you established for yourself in regards to creating and maintaining your PLN?
  • What long term goal can you set for yourself in regards to your PLN?

    Short term goals:
stick with Twitter until I understand the value I find in using it and following various people/organizations
explore Class Dojo to see if I’m interested in using it next school year
    Long term goals:
continue using Pinterest professionally and create more boards of information
continue using Teachers Pay Teachers to connect with other teacher created ideas/lessons
use Remind and use it more consistently and use it more often than previously
find more blogs to actually follow rather than to stumble upon short-term

    Short term goal:

Give Twitter an honest to goodness try. I know that right now it is overwhelming, but I need to stick with it to try learning how to better navigate it. Even though it wasn’t a focus of this class, I feel like I can try Twitter in another capacity by trying to use the TweetDeck (so that I can focus on specific hashtags).

    Long Term goals:
I want to continue to work on organizing my learning. I need to be sure that I do it so that it is easily able to be used by me. I know that my Pinterest has much organizing that needs to be done. While Twitter is a short term goal, I would like to, in the long term, be able to use Twitter to contribute to professional learning (not just reTweet). I would like to build my confidence to finding and sharing things that others maybe haven’t.

TweetDeck can be very helpful to some and overwhelming to others. If it works for you, use it because it does help in following different hashtags.

Also, try following Twitter on your phone or mobile device. That seems to be a very simple way to use it when you have a few minutes.

    Short term goal:
I’d like to devote 15 minutes every other day to finding new information for my learning on Twitter. I need to give this a devoted effort as I think that there are valuable posts tweeted out!

    Long term goal:
I’d like to evaluate my use of Twitter and see if it is truly the PLC for me. If not, I will need to find another more useful PLC. I’d also like to see if there are more useful ways for me to utilize both Class Dojo and Teachers Pay Teachers. I think I am underutilizing both.

Otherwise use Pinterest or follow certain blogs. It doesn’t matter what tool you use, just find one that feels good to you. It is the best learning out there, in my opinion!

    My Short Term Goals:
Continue to explore Twitter and Pinterest by dedicating time each day to see how it can work for me.
Take part in some WebCasts/PodCasts in areas of interest–Coaching/Consulting

    Long Term Goals:
Read more of the Pirate Books
Set up a Bloomz or DoJo account for my Fall Candidate class
Continue to gather information/organize/make new boards in Pinterest
Set up a Tackk site for my candidates to share resources/info, answer questions, show videos, give inspiration

Short term goals: Continue to experiment with Twitter to be used as a PLN and working on Twitter at least 15 minutes a day. I also plan to continue to use Pinterest as well. I will plan on exploring more of the blogs that I come across as I use Pinterest, because I know there is a lot more great information out there.

Long term goals: Continue to dive into these great books that are out in education now. I am interested in reading the Pirate books, Launch, and The Innovators’ Mindset. Continue to organized all of the knowledge that is out there via bookmarks and such.
Continue to find ways to give my students more choice in their daily life at school.
I would like to start using Remind in my classroom as well.
